This is something we don’t see every day: A popular multi-platform software having a security vulnerability only in Mac OS X. In Skype, attackers were able to smuggle in malicious software onto other Skype clients if they are running in Mac OS X, just with a manipulated text message. A new version has been released two weeks ago, but now the company published information about the security hole.
Mac OS X users with Skype should user the “Check for Updates” function of their software in order to download and install the current version, where this error should not occur anymore . This month a further update is planned already which has even more bugfixes; with this update, every Skype user will get a notification about the Update.
